SUPREME LEADER AMONGS THE UMAYYAD DYNASTY
Umar Bn Abdul-Azeez was amongs the Umayyad's family who was nominated by Sulaiman on his death bed .
HIS ACHIEVEMENTS
（1）- He stopped the advance of the muslim army in parts of Asia in the name of holy war. To him, the war was no longer holy and had degenerated into oppression .
（2）- He restored and maintained the unity of muslim world . He brought back the cordial relationship between the Arabs and non Arabs which was undermined by the administrative policies of the earlier Umayyad caliphs .
（3）- He reduced the taxes of the christians in cyprus , Najran and Aylah.
（4）- He promoted Islam by his religious policy of exempting the new converts from paying the Kharaj . As a result of this, the number of the new converts increased .
（5）- He like his ancestor , considered Bait-al-mal as public trust. He would not spend a single pie from it, neither would he allow someone else to do so. While Usman allowed his relatives to do so （extravagance ）.
（6）- In order to prevent the sharp fall of revenue to the state, he forbade the sale of land by the non-muslims to the muslims because the muslims do not pay the Kharaj.
（7）- He gave the mawalis pension for military services -a privilege enjoyed only by Arabs during the reign of his predecessors.
（8）- He was fair and generous to the family of Ali （A.S ）. He restored to them the property of Fadak which was appropriated by Marwan and abolished the practice of cursing Ali and his descendants in Khudba as established by Mu'awiyyah （L.A ）.
（9）- Appoitments into public offices were guided by sense of responsibility , merit, honestly , sincerity and dutifulness, not as done by Usman Bn Affan .
