breaking : oshiomole & ize iyamu react to high court disqualification of audu ganiyu

Erstwhile All Progressive Congress ( APC ) Chairman, Adams Oshiomole and the Gubernatorial candidate for the last Edo Election, Mr Ize- Iyamu have reacted to the High Court ruling in Benin yesterday being 6th January 2021 that disqualified Audu Ganiyu, the deputy Governor in the said election to Ize-Iyamu

Reacting shortly after the judgement, Adams Oshiomole who was visibly angry at his resident Benin City said, “the judgement cannot stand”, stressing that High Court gave a premature judgement without holistic investigation adding that Appeal court would upturn the judgement.

Similarly, in his own reaction, Ize-Iyamu said: ” Earlier today, I received news of a ruling delivered by the Edo State High Court purportedly disqualifying my candidacy, alongside running mate, Hon. Gani Audu, in last year’s Edo Governorship election.

I wish to state that this ruling is unfortunate and utterly wrong.

I have already instructed my legal counsel to appeal against the judgment, as I am convinced that the Court of Appeal will dispassionately consider the facts presented before the Court and arrive at a just decision in accordance with the law.

I urge all our teeming supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.

Justice will surely prevail in this matter to the glory of God”.

You recall that the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin on Wednesday voided Audu Ganiyu, the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate in the September 19, 2020 governorship election.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kadiri Oshoakhemhe, had in a suit No: B/358/20 filed a case against the APC deputy governorship candidate and two others.

Delivering judgment in Benin City, the presiding judge, Justice H.A Courage-Ogbebor, said that Ganiyu presented false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission in his Form EC9.

Ganiyu was the running mate of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC governorship candidate in the last governorship election won by Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).
